Green
Architecture
Langley
and Associates Architects
holds a keen interest in employing environmentally sensitive products
and design strategies in building design. The firm is constantly
searching for partnerships with clients whose goals embrace “green”
objectives. We believe there are many opportunities to employ
green design to every project. These opportunities range from
the use of modern, high efficiency products to conservation-oriented
energy consumption strategies, to even the simple renovation;
or “recycling” of existing buildings. We believe everyone has
this responsibility and opportunity to building “a little lighter”
on the earth, and in big ways and small, every design can make
an effort to consume fewer resources. Sensitive site planning,
as well, can make significant impacts on natural resources, and
here, too, opportunities arise for “green” planning.

Langston
Black Real Estate Offices
Greer, SC
The
offices of Langston Black Real Estate involved
the renovation of upper level spaces in three buildings that were
combined into one contiguous space. All the walls, floors and
ceilings were stripped to original materials to expose brick walls
and hardwood pecan floors. The original exit stairs were revised
and a new monumental stair with a two level lobby was designed
at the main entry. The renovations also included new heating and
air conditioning systems with exposed duct work. The buildings
exterior was not altered or modified and, for the most part, remains
historically intact.
